Churchill Downs Magazine commissioned a photo feature on Mt. Brilliant Farm for their Fall 2019 issue. A storied equine property in Lexington where history, beauty, and Kentucky horse country tradition converge in every pasture and barn board.

I'd never been to Mt. Brilliant before, but the moment I pulled through the gates, it was clear why this farm earned the feature. Rolling pastureland, historic barns, and the legacy of Man o' War woven through every inch of the property. It's one of those places where you immediately slow down and start noticing texture, light, and quiet details that normally go overlooked.

The team gave me near-complete creative freedom, with only a couple of specific requests for the spread. The rest was up to me. I photographed the barns at sunrise, documented the grounds, and captured a few portraits of the owner, Greg Goodman, who couldn't have been more welcoming.

What started as a straightforward editorial assignment became one of my favorite projects to date. Seeing one of my images chosen for the cover was the icing on the cake.
